when all else fails...'getaway hobby'

everybody goes through rough times in life. what makes people different is how they go about in the 'overcoming process'. it is an extremely tough process, especially if you are not used to it. a great way to start is to bring yourself to a calm and serene mood, so that you can properly gather your thoughts without interruption.

in my own personal experience, i find myself at peace when i go about my hobby. when times are rough and i need a little getaway, i turn to my hobby. staring at my aquarium and performing the regular husbandry on it calms me down and gives me a chance to recollect on the issue at hand and gather my thoughts. my hobby not only makes me happy but also gives me a chance to be environmental. my hobby is being a 'reefer'.
(Reefer, an aquarium hobbyist term for one who maintains and cultivates corals, sea anemones, and other invertebrates associated with coral reefs)
ever since i was young, i loved to watch fish swim in aquariums. i was able to stare at them for hours without getting bored. so of course, as i got older, i became more serious about the hobby and took it home with me. by doing so, i gave myself the the opportunity to be able to stare at my reef tank all day... i have been keeping reefs for sometime now and i still learn something new every time i hit the forums... all the hard work i put into my aquarium always pays off every time i look at it.

what's YOUR 'getaway hobby' ?

p.s. this is ONE of my getaways...
